Description

Offered is this exquisite Thorn G/T by luthier genius Ron Thorn. Until recently Ron made a variety of high-end electrics under the Thorn brand and and has long been known for his incredible inlay work. His guitars are works of both sonic and visual art. Earlier this year, however, Ron took a job as Principal Masterbuilder with the Fender Custom Shop. This beautiful G/T is one of the last he produced under the Thorn brand.

The G/T is obviously Ron's take on a Telecaster-style instrument. Key specifications for this magnificent guitar include: an Alder body with a very thin Shoreline Gold nitrocellulose finish; a quartersawn Maple neck with a chunky C-shape and depth measurements of .860" at the first fret and .950" at the twelfth fret; an Indian Rosewood fretboard with a 10" radius; 6150 fret wire; a 1.650" tusq nut; a Joe Barden bridge with brass saddles; locking vintage style tuners; and for electronics, Arcane Experience 51 single coil pickups with a modern Tele control layout. This lovely piece has a total weight of just 7.5 pounds.

This is a masterbuilt-quality, one-off instrument. In terms of playability and tone, it kills most any Tele-style instrument you are going to find in this price range. Listen to the provided Soundcloud sample and I think you will agree, the tone of this instrument is magnificent. Ron sweats the details when it comes to building his guitars. For example, check out the unique neck to body joint system Ron engineered for his bolt-neck guitars. Ron's design makes for a rock solid joint that maximizes stability, tone and resonance. Every detail of Ron's guitars is superbly engineered and crafted with similar care. This instrument is a superb playing and sounding piece of luthier art.

Built in October, 2018 this guitar is in as-new condition and is one of the last Ron produced under his brand. There are no flaws of any significance, frets included. It comes in it's original G&G black tweed case with the original paperwork.

If the idea of a masterbuilt quality T-style guitar at a team-build price sounds good to you, then this lovely Thorn G/T should appeal to you. Make this lovely Tele yours today. There aren't any more coming from Ron Thorn except those with a Fender logo on them.
