Description

Offered is this exquisite Santa Cruz 1929-00 Koa made in 2016 and in near mint condition.

The 1929-00 Koa is a 12 fret, short scale (24.75") instrument, based of course on it's all Mahogany brethren. This custom version, however, uses highly figured Koa for the back, sides and top. The Mahogany neck has a soft V shape with a first fret depth of .84" and a 1.75" bone nut. The lovely Ebony fretboard has a 12" radius and vintage style frets. It has an Ebony pyramid bridge with 2-3/16" string spacing and a bone saddle. While it may look relatively simple from a distance, a closer inspection reveals luxurious instrument with black purfling, Mahogany binding, an ivoroid/tortoise/ivoroid rosette and an Ebony peghead overlay. The finish is clear gloss lacquer on the body and clear satin on the neck. This is one gorgeous little instrument.

The tone on the instrument is nice and chimey with a touch of warmth. It's voice is nicely balanced with clear trebles and surprising depth to it's bass side given it's small and comfortable body size. Please check out the brief sound sample that I have recorded of this guitar. Koa is one of my favorite tone woods. To my ears, it strikes the perfect balance between the warmth of Mahogany and the clarity of Rosewood. Koa is also one of the most attractive woods that Mother Nature produces.

This guitar plays effortlessly and is setup as it came from the factory with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" on the low E side and 4/64" on the high E side. Fingerstyle or flat-picked, this is one sweetheart of a guitar.

While built in 2016. this little beauty has never been retailed and has seen light test play only. Other than very light strum marks on the pickguard, it shows no flaws of any significance and the frets show no observable wear. It comes in it's similarly mint SCGC/Ameritage case, also in superb condition, along with the original paperwork.

Commissioned new, this guitar would cost you nearly $8K and a significant wait time. Get this near new beauty for $2K less and get it today.
