1960 Rikhi Ram Sitar Natural, Excellent, Original Hard

"Turn off your mind relax and float down stream,"....so say the Beatles in Tomorrow Never Knows, the last track of the groundbreaking Revolver album. 50 years ago George Harrison changed popular Western music forever with his sitar playing and blissed out message. The Beatles bought several Sitars from Rikhi Ram and Sons in 1966, and the group was responsible for making the sound of the sitar a symbol of peace, love, and spirituality in the psychedelic sixties. This particular Rikhi Ram sitar was brought to our shop by its original owner. She purchased and played it while living in India in the mid-60s. We tuned it up and it sounds great with its original strings, but could undoubtedly benefit from a string change and a professional setup. Since we don't have in-house experience with sitar setup, the instrument is being sold as-is. Comes with the original heavy duty wooden case that is very protective as evidenced by the excellent condition of this 50+ year old instrument.
