Description

Breathtakingly clean is this pristine example an all original 1941 Martin 1-C concert uke ukulele in near perfect condition with original Silbertone (not Silvertone) NY, New York chipboard case. Martin concert ukes are the same body size as their traditional 8-string Hawaiian style taropatch (1918-1932) but with four strings only. Concerts ukes are tuned the same as their smaller sister the soprano but because of the larger body have a deeper and richer sound while retaining a smaller more manageable neck and scale lenght of 14 3/4". Production of the Martin 1-C concert starts in 1925 and continues until 1965 but even so one can usually count on one hand how many Martin concerts they’ve held. Finding a pre War Martin concert uke is difficult enough finding one in this condition, almost impossible. Stunning pre War instrument looks like the day it was made; Martin made more sopranos, tenors and baritones than concerts by far, Martin concert uke production is very low. No modifications or repairs, no cracks or breaks, all original finish and parts. rosewood fingerboard, great feel, wide at the nut slim uniform depth. Cosmetically almost perfect a couple of very small little marks only and the binding in the waist of the top left side has seperated a littel.
