Description

Martin began making ukuleles in the 1920s and continued through the 1960s, always constructed with the finest materials and workmanship. This example appears to be from about 1960 based on the original case, tuners and the manufacturer's stamp inside the sound hole. Martin began to use "Made in USA" on the stamp in 1961 and information gleaned from the Kluson website claims that they began to market the 'double ring' version buttons in 1961, so that may help date this uke, assuming that these are Kluson-made buttons/tuners.

The Style 0 ukes were made from all solid mahogany with only a modest sound hole ring, position markers at 5, 7 and 10 and no binding. The fingerboard and bridge are Brazilian rosewood. The nut and saddle are ebony. The neck is mahogany. The original tuners sport the so-called 'tulip' or 'keystone' buttons and remain in excellent condition.

The body measures 6 3/8" across at the lower bout. Overall length is 21 1/8" Scale length is 13 3/4". The fingerboard width at the nut measures 1 7/16". Action is 7/64" at the 12th fret.

The Style 0 is in overall excellent condition with some finish scuffing on the back and very few signs of age or wear. Overall a nice, clean little package, ready to play.

Comes with its original soft case in excellent condition.
