The HD-28 was released in 1976 as Martin's herringbone D-28 model.

In the 1980s, Martin and Tokai Gakki, the Japanese distributor of the D-28, jointly planned and released the HD-28 Custom Pre War Reissue, which was made with the utmost care and attention to detail to reproduce the pre-war D-28.

The HD-28 Custom Pre War Reissue is the result of the joint project between Martin and Tokai Gakki, the Japanese distributor of the D-28,
The HD-28 Custom Pre War Reissue features the essence of the Pre War D-28, such as the scalloped X-bracing, long saddle, ivoroid binding, tortoiseshell pickguard, and more.

At the time, only a few dozen were distributed in Japan.
It is miraculous that it has found its way back to our store.

What is more surprising is that this is a first owner guitar. It has been cared for by a single user for more than 40 years.
It is not easy to use in the modern world, but it is worth mentioning that it comes with Morris CP-2 contact pickups, which were optional at the time.

The guitar has been well cared for and is in very good condition with no cracks.
It is not every day you get a chance to come across a D-28 with this kind of story.

- The neck and wood have been thoroughly inspected by a craftsman specializing in acoustic guitars and no repairs are needed.
- The neck is straight and free of any chattering or sound clogging issues.
- String height on the 12th fret: 2.5mm on the 6th string side, 2.0mm on the 1st string side.
- Saddle protrusion: approx. 2 to 2.5 mm
