Description

Here’s a very special guitar. 70s Martins are proving worthy of the Martin tradition and are increasingly sought after by knowledgable players. Does a 70s D-18 have the dry punchy tone of a pre-War model? No. They have their own sound—plenty loud, but richer and arguably more resonant across the full tonal spectrum than the earlier models favored by Bluegrassers.

This one is certainly one of the best 70s-era D-18s you’re likely to find. It stands up and demands notice. Super clean with minimal playing wear and totally free of the usual scuffs and nicks of a 40 year old guitar. Gorgeous rosewood fingerboard with original frets in excellent condition.

Replaced pickguard and professionally repaired B-string crack. Non-original pearl dotted ebony bridge pins. The end pin hole was enlarged to accommodate a pickup jack, but the pickup system has been removed and a “No Jack” end pin has been installed for a traditional look. Comes with a period blue Martin case in good condition.

This guitar sounds and plays fantastic and is in excellent condition. You won’t find a nicer 70s D-18 than this. Grab it while you can.
