1972 Martin D-12 20

We don’t sell that many 12 strings. We’re pretty picky. But, we’ve always liked this sort of mid-size Martin, and happened to find one on the East coast. The things we like about these Martins is that they have a nice full sound without the bulk of the larger Martin, Taylor and even Gibson 12 string models. The top is spruce, and the back and sides are aged mahogany. The bridge and fretboard are rosewood. The guitar, though played, is in excellent condition. There are no structural issues, no major dings and just a bit of buckle rash on the back. As with many of these Martins of the era, the pickguard was replaced at some point. But all parts of the guitar other than that are original. If you are looking to add a 12 string to the mix and have not wanted to wade in too deeply, this is the right one for you. It comes in at a moderate price for a great vintage instrument and really delivers on tonal quality. You can’t beat an old, well-cared for Martin! Comes in a period hardshell case (does not appear to be original case-but in good condition). And has had a Barcus-Berry bridge pickup installed at some point along the way should you want to plug in. 12 strings are unique, but every collection should have one. This one will quickly become an old friend.

We make every effort to provide you honest information about the instrument you purchase. However, every flaw, scratch or ding may not be photographed or noticed on every instrument. By the nature of what we are collecting and selling, virtually all vintage instruments will have dings, scratches, and various other imperfections that come with age and use. We call it character. That's why we love them. Please carefully look at photographs and contact us if you require additional information. Please note that every instrument has been inspected and set up by our luthier for playability and appearance. But, your instrument may still require additional set up by you to make it exactly what is most comfortable and acceptable to you. In the unlikely event that your instrument arrives in a condition with damage or other issues not previously anticipated, please contact us immediately and we will assist. Should a return be required due to damage incurred in route, we must be notified within 48 hours. Please note that all other returns are at the recipients expense. Contact us to authorize and assist you in either case so that we can minimize cost and ensure the safe return of the instrument. All returns must arrive in the same condition in which they left our store and be insured for the full value of the instrument.
