From out of the depths, buried here for decades, at least, as is, this neck from a 1930s Martin archtop C-2 guitar. Probably left over from a conversion project, making a lovely 1930s Brazilian rosewood C-2 with a smashed top into a fabulous flat-top guitar. Surprisingly, it has the longer 25.4” scale. It has all of its original bar frets, in surprisingly good shape, “diamond-and-square” fingerboard inlay, and original ivory nut; five of the original Grover tuners with all six bushings are also present. Best of all, it has that wonderful, original mother-of-pearl “CF MARTIN” block-letter peghead inlay. While there are replicas of this inlay made today, somehow they just never look quite right; letters always a bit too thick, or a little too perfect, or not quite ….something. The finish on the neck is either gone over or redone, admittedly a bit crude though the original “CF MARTIN NAZARETH PA” stamp on the back of the peghead does show; there is a repaired crack in the heel. We just sold an identical veneer from a neck like this, veneer with inlay only, nothing else, for $200 and it was snapped up. Your chance to have an entire neck, with pearl-inlaid veneer and some 1930s Grover tuners, for the same price of $200
