Description

If you are fan of great values in high quality acoustic guitars, the instrument offered here should interest you. Offered here is a Huss & Dalton Traditional OM Custom with some high-end features, in near mint condition and at a great price.

The TOM-R is a 14-fret, 000-sized instrument with a 25.4" string scale. This custom model has a lovely, tight-grained Adirondack Spruce top with herringbone trim and flamed Maple binding. The back and sides have been upgraded to fabulous set of dark Brazilian Rosewood. The Mahogany neck has a low profile neck shape with depth measurements of .84" at the 1st fret and .94" at the 9th fret and is also bound in flame Maple. It has a an Ebony fretboard with Abalone inlays and a 1-3/4" bone nut. The Ebony belly bridge has a bone saddle with 2-7/32" string spacing. The headstock overlay is also Brazilian Rosewood. The tuners are classic nickel Waverlys.

Huss & Dalton guitars are known for a clear and airy tone and this beauty does not disappoint. The note separation is exceptional. Whether you use a flat pick or your fingers, this guitar is quite responsive with lots of sustain. Overall, the tone is classic OM with a touch of additional top end shimmer. Please check out the brief sound sample provided and I trust you will agree. It is setup for comfortable play with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" and 4/64" on the low and high E sides, respectively, with just a touch of neck relief as it came from the Huss & Dalton factory. I've installed a new set of Elixir 80/20's lights, my preferred string. Very nice indeed!

While completed at the end of 2008, this instrument remains in virtually unplayed condition. I cannot find any issues, cosmetic or otherwise with this gorgeous guitar and the frets are spotless too. The guitar comes in it's original H&D tweed case, also in near mint condition.

A new TOM-R guitar with these features and tonewoods today would cost at least $9K. Get this near immaculate 2008 example for far less. A great acoustic guitar and a great value too. Make this beauty yours!
