Description

Here's a 1980 Gibson SG R1 Artist in Ebony finish. 100% original! No breaks, cracks, repairs. This short-lived Norlin-era model used the active Moog electronics from the RD Artist, employing a slightly thicker body to accommodate the internal circuitry. The SG-R1 was renamed "SG Artist" in 1981 before being discontinued, and is one of the rarer models of SG ever produced! 200 made in total. Besides the small batch of buckle wear on the back, overall the guitar is in great shape! The neck has a comfortable full feeling medium C profile. Plays smooth and fast. Low action from to top to bottom. Frets are in good shape with plenty of life. And the guitar sounds killer!!! Two Series VI active Gibson humbuckers, that are full of life. Add the Mood electronics and thing is full of great tones. Really fun one here. OHSC!
