Description

This 1975 Gibson Les Paul Standard in its original Sunburst finish may very well be the only Les Paul with full-sized humbuckers shipped that year! The 1970s was an interesting time for Gibson, with the Standard disappearing from catalogs from 1972-76. Most, if not all, Les Paul’s made during this time were labeled “Deluxe” with a waterslide decal on the back of the headstock, but the option for full-sized humbuckers was still available for special order per the catalog. If that option was chosen, the guitar became a “Standard,” receiving a labeled truss rod cover despite still having the Deluxe decal on the back of the headstock. Public shipping records indicate only one of these shipped in 1975, and despite this serial number dating this guitar to 1975, we can’t be sure if it shipped that year or in the early parts of 1976. The subject guitar is in incredible condition, with hardly any noticeable wear besides some very light scratches and a light curly cord impression. It’s playing great, and thanks to those full-sized humbuckers, it sounds fantastic, too!

Overall Condition: 9.5, light scratches and impressions
