Summary

Finish: The guitar has been stripped and refinished in natural, and the headstock face has been oversprayed, and the silkscreened "Les Paul Special" is missing.

Body Material: Mahogany

Body Details: Solid one piece mahogany body. The body has been modified for a Tuneomatic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, and there are several plugged holes around the bridge and tailpiece posts. The toggle switch cavity has also been opened up through the front of the body, with a large plastic mounting plate installed. The pickup cavities have also been previously modified, and each has a wood spacer glued in for pickup mounting.

Neck Material: Mahogany

Neck Profile: "C" profile

Neck Thickness (IN): .84" (1st fret), .92" (12th fret)

Fingerboard Radius: 12.00"

Nut Width: 1-5/8"

Scale Length: 24 3/4"

Neck Details: Set-in mahogany neck, with unbound Brazilian rosewood fretboard, dot inlays, and headstock truss rod adjustment. The original neck binding is still present at the end of the fretboard, however it has been removed and the binding ledge has been shaved away on the rest of the neck. The neck has been re-profiled as part of this, and has been refretted. The nut has also been replaced. The serial number on the back of the headstock is missing, as the original finish was stripped away.

Electronics: The pickups have been replaced, maintaining the original metal baseplate. The wiring harness has also been replaced, maintaining the original "bumblebee" tone capacitors. Controls include 3-way toggle switch and volume/tone controls for each pickup.

Pickup Measurements: 7.6k (neck), 8.4k (bridge)

Hardware: The tuners, nut, bridge, tailpiece, pickup covers, switch plate and switch tip, and strap buttons have all been replaced. The knobs have been replaced, with one slightly mismatched.

Weight: 7 lbs 6 oz

Cosmetic Condition: This vintage Les Paul Special is in good cosmetic condition; the natural refinish has light chips, scratches, and dings. There are several plugged holes by the bridge and tailpiece posts, as well as some wear to the wood around the control cavity cover. There are a few finish chips on the back of the neck heel, and the neck is overall glossy and smooth. The headstock face has light hazing, and the silkscreened "Les Paul Special" is missing.

Modifications/Repairs: -The body and neck have been stripped and refinished -The pickups and wiring harness have been replaced -Several plugged holes in the body -The body has been modified for a Tuneomatic bridge and stopbar -The pickup cavities have been modified -The neck has been refretted and the nut replaced -The tuners have been replaced -The toggle switch hole has been enlarged and a large plastic mounting plate added -Replaced switch tip, knobs, and strap buttons

Serial Number: NA

Tech Notes: The guitar plays well with low action and optimal neck relief, and the tall frets show only minor play wear. The lack of a serial number and electronics codes prevents a definitive dating, however the construction style and appointments are consistent with a 1957 model.

Case Details: Hardshell Case
