Where were you in 1972? This sweet 1972 Les Paul Custom in Cherryburst finish was just being born. After 46 years in the music business it’s seen some stages, probably a few bars, and made a lot of great music. And it’s just getting started.
This Les Paul Custom has play wear commensurate with its vintage but the guitar presents well. It has a few modifications: Non-original but era-correct patent sticker pickups. Also a non-original, but vintage bridge. Missing its pickguard.
The top is in nice shape with a strong cherryburst finish and just a few minor dings. Pearloid block inlays on the fingerboard and the headstock inlay, as well as the Gibson logo, are bright and clean. One small scrape on the back of the neck at 5th fret and through-the-finish buckle wear on the back of the guitar.
The gold hardware is in very good condition, except for the replaced pickups which have a worn chrome finish. Some random small dings and scratches on the edges of the guitar, but the headstock is in great condition with great looking and fully intact binding that has aged beautifully.
All in all a nice looking early seventies Les Paul Custom which plays and sounds just like it should. An awesome vintage Paul at a reasonable price point.
