1968 Gibson Les Paul Standard Gold Top Conversion
Refinished & Routed for Humbuckers
Mike Lennon Nashville Apprentice Shop Work
Vintage Dimarzio Super D Bridge
Duncan JB Pickup in Neck
This is a 1968 Gibson Les Paul Standard Gold Top that was refinished in the late 70's, at The Apprentice Shop in Nashville TN, by Mike Lennon. The guitar was re-routed for Humbucker pickups and had a slimming of the neck performed at the same time. The original P90's PU cavities were filled and re-routed for Humbuckers with a DiMarzio Super D in the bridge and a Duncan JP in the neck position. This is a beautiful Les Paul with a one piece body and a one piece neck. Note the cool small headstock with Gibson abalone inlay with dotted "i" logo and open "o", just like a 1957 Standard Gold Top. Due to the adjustment to the west coast weather, she now has some significant checking on the lower half of the guitar. This baby weighs in at 9.5 lbs. If this one was all original, it would be more expensive. Here is your chance to skip the Custom Shop Swag and go with a real deal Vintage Gibson Les Paul. Note that the original double line tuners will come with this guitar, not the single line tuners shown. Great playing super sounding Les Paul ... think Tom Scholz for a tone example. Comes with an original vintage 1968 Gibson Les Paul black Tolex yellow interior case.
