2003 Gibson LEFTY R9/Historic 1959 Les Paul (1959 Reissue) Ice Tea Sunburst, Excellent, Original Hard, $3,995.00

This is a 2003 Gibson Historic 1959/R9 Les Paul in Ice Tea Gloss Finish, Nickel Hardware, Dark Rosewood Fingerboard, and nicely figured top.
This guitar has a nice weight at well under 9 lbs: 8.65 lbs (8lbs, 10.4oz to be exact) as measured on a Mettler commercial scale. The neck has a comfortable 59 profile: .92/1st fret, .99/12th fret.

This R9 comes with a host of upgraded parts. Currently, everything is original on the guitar except for:
Jimmy Page Les Paul-Style Wiring with Push/Pull Pots, and Bare Knuckle Pickups - Coldsweat model, matching neck & bridge 50mm spacing bridge pickup, 4 conductor wiring long legs, raw nickel covers (naturally aged).

The Jimmy Page push/pull pots offer a lot of flexibility in tonal possibilities:

This is a classic mod to a Les Paul that provides that signature Jimmy Page sound. All 4 control pots are push/pull control pots. They act as both volume/tone pots and switches. When all four switches are pushed in, you get the standard Les Paul control and sound. When they are pulled out, here’s what you get:

· Neck Volume: splits neck pickup

· Bridge Volume: splits bridge pickup

· Neck tone: puts bridge & neck pickups in series together

· Bridge tone: puts bridge & neck pickups out of phase with each
other

The original Burstbucker pickups are not included. You probably would not want them after hearing the Bare Knuckles. The original wiring harness is included, but one of the pots is in need of replacement. Again, you’d probably not want to replace the Jimmy Page wiring harness once you have a chance to hear it.

The guitar has some minor dings and nicks on the top, some minor wear on the back, and moderate fretwear with plenty of life left. Overall, it’s in Excellent condition.

The fretboard is a very dark rosewood(probably Indian Rosewood), and reminds me of several Brazilian Les Pauls from 2003 that I have owned. The guitar has some very attractive flame, and is consistently figured across the top.

I have cleaned, polished and set-up the guitar with new D’Addario XL110(10-46). It needs nothing and is ready to go.

The guitar includes the OHSC and every single piece of paperwork that came with the guitar when new, including COA, Warranty Card, Owners Manual, hangtags, Guitar Cable, etc.

This is a very nice R9 from 2003, a year which many players and collectors consider to be one of the best, if not the best year, for Gibson Historic Les Pauls.
