Description

The saga continues with the enchanting tale of a Special Order 1950 left-handed Gibson J-45 Sunburst. Doubled pickguards, Brazilian Rosewood fretboard with parallel fretboard markers. There is slight fissure on the back left side and right side of guitar, but no issue. I do have an original alligator case if you request it. One owner since 1950. Again, it has the original doubled parallelogram markers on the fretboard. Virtually---with paralleled, one-of-a-kind masterpiece that bears the indelible marks of a unique journey. The narrative unfolds with a peculiar twist, as a gentleman, the custodian of this extraordinary guitar, initiates contact with me via a voicemail left in the form of a riddle.. This whimsical communication style, a delightful rarity, adds a layer of intrigue to this guitar’s story. I saw it only appropriate to respond to this man with a riddle of my own. A one owner piece of history.

As the riddles weaved their enigmatic dance between the voicemails we had left for each other, the suspense builds until the moment of revelation. I had called him and this time he answered. The gentleman, now 94 years old, shares the remarkable chronicle of how he personally placed a special order for this Gibson J-45 Sunburst 73 years ago at a local music shop—a testament to the good ‘ol days where such requests were the norm. His specifications were meticulous; a left-handed orientation, double pickguards, and "left-handed" split parallelogram markers adorned this bespoke creation.

Fast forward to the present, and this seasoned gentleman, with a lifetime of experiences etched into his being, entrusts the guitar to a new caretaker—someone who not only appreciates its prowess but also values the rich history woven into its very fabric. A farewell letter discovered within the haggard Kalamazoo case, penned by the aging custodian to his 'ol boy, adds an emotional depth to this transaction that transcends the realm of mere commerce. It becomes a poignant exchange, a passing of the torch, and a testament to the enduring love and connection one can have with an instrument.

This heartwarming narrative encapsulates the rare essence of individuals like this man and his unique bond to this instrument. Beyond the pursuit of financial gain, it is these priceless stories that underscore the profound impact and emotional resonance that music, and the instruments that create it, can have on people's lives.
