The early Gibson Hummingbird with a supreme rock sound.

Gibson / 1961 Hummingbird Cherry Sunburst

The long scale Hummingbird, which is actually common! The truth about the early model!
The best performing Hummingbird that has been played for over 60 years is now in stock.

The Hummingbird, Gibson's first square shoulder model, was released in 1960.
The innovative looks and dynamic sound of the Hummingbird were overwhelmingly supported by the musicians of the time, and led to the introduction of the square-shouldered Dove in 1962.

The Hummingbird was born in 1961, the year of the first Hummingbird. The number of Hummingbirds shipped by 1962 was 1254, which was less than the number produced in 1963, and early Hummingbirds are very rare items that are rarely seen today.

The top of the body is spruce, and although the wood has been played, the grain itself is tight and fine, indicating that fine quality wood was used.
The body side backs are mahogany, with thick conduits and a brave appearance.
It is a long scale square shoulder model with a rare material, Hakaranda, used for the fingerboard/bridge.

The pattern dug on the large pickguard is yellow only, which is unique to this period. The lacquer coating has thinned and become thinner, and it is evident that it has blended well with the wood.

You can see that this piece has been used with care and repeated maintenance.
The vintage tone is rugged, yet crisp and superb.
Even those who normally use round shoulders will appreciate the charm of this piece.
