1924 Gibson A-4 Snakehead with Virzi - Fine Loar period example
1924 Gibson "Snake Head" A-4 with Virzi Tone Generator EXC This is a sweetheart for sure.It's in great condition all the way around with one teeny surface crack near the bottom from an over enthusiastic tailpiece tightening no doubt. All original with the classic sunburst top and maple back and sides. The Snakehead headstock has the classic fleur de lys inlay and the tuning pegs work smoothly. It has it's original hard shell case in nice shape with even the ribbon hinges still intact or restored. The serial number is 805620 and the FON number seems to be 8123. The Virzi number is 10642. This is just about the sweetest sounding mandolin I've had! It plays easily and has a full rich dulcet tone. It has plenty of volume if you want to play loud too. The most desirable of all the A-4 models.
