1954 Fender Telecaster Blackguard Butterscotch
This vintage 1954 Fender Telecaster Blackguard carries the legacy of a Vietnam Veteran and accomplished Nashville session musician. Complete with provenance and paperwork, the guitar exudes a captivating blend of vintage character and well-worn playability.
Restored in the 1980s-90s by Sho Bud guitars in Nashville and again in 2023 by our store, the guitar showcases a beautiful, refinished Butterscotch Ash body and its original pickups (bridge pickup rewound). The original Blackguard components – pickups, pickguard, bridge plate, saddles, knobs, and switch tip – retain a timeless appeal from the natural wear earned from years of playing.
Playing Experience with Character
The guitar has been upgraded with new cloth wiring, a period-correct 1954 switch, and later pots. The large profile flame maple neck, dated TG 4-54, offers a comfortable playing experience. While the decal has been replaced and the string tree modernized, the original Kluson tuners (possibly from two sets) add a touch of vintage authenticity.

With only around 5,000 Blackguards produced between 1950-mid 1954, this guitar represents a significant piece of musical history.

Payment is made by direct deposit to the company Hutchens & Associates Pty Ltd. Shipping is additional to the price of the guitar. Once agreement to purchase a guitar is reached, an invoice for the amount owing will be issued, and once payment is received, the guitar will be professionally packed and shipped using your preferred carrier and insurance conditions. We will organise shipping insurance in case of theft or damage.
Shipping is not included in the price unless negotiated at the point of sale. Typically, shipping and insurance from Perth to the Eastern States is between $120-500 depending on the value of insurance required. Unless otherwise specified by the client, the company will use Pack’n Send domestically and Fedex for shipping overseas with appropriate customs clearance etc. All guitars and basses will be insured at the sale price and packed appropriately to ensure the instruments do not suffer any damage in transit.
A 48 Hour acceptance period after the guitar is delivered will be available. We will contact you after the guitar or bass is delivered to make certain that you are completely happy with your purchase. If the guitar or bass is returned in exactly the same condition as it left, then a 100% refund is available on the guitar or bass during the first 48 hours. The purchaser pays the initial and return shipping cost during the refund process.
