No Longer Available ** NOTE this a very early Precision bass that constituted the "new" P bass design, I believe this to be one from the earliest production runs as it sports a September date and June is considered when these were first touted in sales brochures..Another vintage Fender Precision bass has landed , the third one in 2 years . The most substantial revision was implemented in 1957 and resulted in the Precision Bass design that endures today basically unchanged. This year, the instrument was given its now-familiar split-coil pickup, headstock shape based on the Stratocaster® guitar, and one-piece pickguard assembly to which the electronics were fixed (the pickguard itself was gold anodized aluminum with a cutout for the new pickup). This revision also featured bridge-mounted rather than through-body strings, individual threaded bridge saddles for better intonation and height adjustment, a two-screw plastic thumb rest replacing the single-screw wooden one, knurled metal knobs with flat rather than rounded tops, and redesigned pickup and bridge covers.This 1957 Fender Precision bass for sale sports the sought after two tone sunburst,anodized gold pick guard, original pots and cap,knobs, bridge,string guide,strap buttons,thumb rest and tuning keys. The logo is original and intact with NO overspray or refinish work done to the bass guitar ever. The nut measures 1 and 3/4 inches in width and the neck profile from front of fingerboard to back of neck is 1 inch in dept, very comfortable and a real working bass gigged religiously as a player by a professional musician. The Bass will ship and comes with a Fender first generation vintage tweed reissue case that sported the leather end caps and handle like the originals and NOT the naugahyde versions that came later.
