1983 Fender Jazz Bass, Smith era, maple neck black
Early 1983 Smith era Fender Jazz bass, American made, E3 serial number, 4-bolt maple neck, original black finish. Finish has some small swirls, scratches and dings typical of a 40-year-old bass, nothing down to the bare wood, small chip to finish in neck pocket. Neck shows some playing wear on the treble side edge. Someone (with terrible eyesight) decided to enlarge the side dots with a Sharpie up to the 12th fret. No attempt has been made by us to remove said enlargements. Does have a few non-original parts. Knobs are newer (had 3 Precision knobs). Once had a BadAss bridge, now has an original 1984 Fender Reissue bridge; you can see some marking on the body where the BadAss was. One of the pots was replaced some time ago; can't remember which one. Weighs in at 10 lbs. Original made-in-Canada black-lined, large center pocket, no-Fender-logo, 3-latch, black tolex hard case with "PEACEFREAK" stenciled on it; otherwise case is in excellent condition, all hardware and leather end caps intact, inside really clean.
An incredible player, one of our favorites, has that great Jazz neck feel and especially that Jazz tone. Setup a while ago with rounds but hardly played after that. Not enough credit is given for the quality of these "Smith basses" with their deep body contours and neck profiles styled more like the old ones. Did we mention the tone?
NOTE: Our black guitars are incredibly difficult to photograph. Especially in trying to show all of the imperfections while getting a good color balance on the white and color parts. In our photos, many of the body areas that show unevenness of color, white streaks or patterns are usually showing reflections, or a result of uneven lighting. Any finish damages or imperfections of color are always addressed in text and shown in photos the best way we can.

All of our instruments are in the conditions as described. No attempt to deceive or misrepresent would ever be intended or tolerated.
