1965 Fender Jazz Bass. This instrument left the Fender Factory in 1965 as a Custom Color, Surf Green Jazz Bass. Over the years it was painted black, and has now been restored to its original Surf Green color, in Nitro Lacquer, by Fiesta Finishes™. The original color can still be seen in the neck pocket and pickup cavities. The neck features an older refret. The frets are in excellent condition. The bass is currently strung with flat wound strings.
The bass has most of its original parts, with a few exceptions. The guard has been replaced, the volume pots have been replaced with CTS Custom Shop level units, and the tone control knob is a replacement.
Original parts include body and neck (refinished), original grey bottom pickups, original tone pot and tone cap, original volume knobs, original tuners, original control plate, original neck plate, original bridge, etc.
The serial number is L64XXX. The bass weighs 9.1 lbs. The neck measures .776" at 1st fret and .973" at 12 fret. This is a smaller to medium neck, with the standard "A" 1.5" nut width. Original pickups are strong and sound great, measuring 7.1K Ohms at the neck and 7.7K Ohms at the bridge.
The bass is a joy to play with a nice neck feel and great tone.
The guitar ships in and aftermarket plastic case, which is sturdy, and light weight, with some minor damage on one corner.
