Description

Here's a rare one - the 1991 Fender Heartfield Elan II in original Red finish.

This was a guitar made by Fender as a competitor to the PRS line that was coming out and gaining popularity at the time.

They were only being made for a brief period in the Fujigen factory, alongside other MIJ Fender guitars. Headed up by a dream team of designers, luthiers, and engineers, the project was stacked with talent; John Page, George Blanda, and Jay Black, just to name a few. It was one of Fender’s first forays into building instruments designed for heavier music. The HH pickup configuration, intricately flamed top, three-per-side headstock style and set-neck construction represented a dramatic shift away from Fender’s wheelhouse. Ailed by unfavorable economic conditions, the project was ended four years after its start, but not before producing some very forward thinking and visually appealing instruments. They’ve been adopted by some high-profile rockers; namely Russ Parrish of Steel Panther and Fight, Vinnie Moore from UFO, and Jeff Pilson from Dokken and Foreigner.

It's a real nice guitar with nice woods, excellent playability and great tone.

A versatile axe with lots of different tones.

Made in Japan.

All original with the exception of upgraded tuners.

Comes with original hardshell case and paperwork "US vs THEM" which compares the Elan to PRS, pretty cool and unusual.
