By far the nicest light-weight open-back 5-string banjo I've come across in quite a long while. It’s a 1913 “Fairbanks Banjo Made By The Vega Company” Regent rim with its serial number on both the stick and stamped inside, combined with an original 1920s Vega Whyte Laydie neck. You just cannot beat this for cool and fabulous. Original frets, finish, and everything else on the neck, especially the “torch” peghead inlay and the captivating Consalvo-engraved first and fifth fret inlays. Almost makes me cry with joy just to look at this banjo. Plays wonderfully of course, all checked out by yours truly, chief banjo honcho here. Has one of those indestructible faux-calfskin heads, the right tone without the hassles of real calfskin. All original patent tuning pegs with real Ivoroid buttons to match its real Ivoroid fingerboard binding. Once you pick this banjo up you will not want to put it down. Comes with a nicely padded gig bag. $1395
