Description

Offered is this spectacular Collings Soco Deluxe in Amber Sunburst finish and built in 2009. This guitar came from the original owner in near mint condition and it's breathtaking!

This guitar has a solid, not laminated, premium flame Maple top on a semi-hollow Mahogany body with Maple center block and Mahogany neck. It is finished in nitrocellulose lacquer and weighs just 6 pounds, 14 ounces. It has a short, 24-7/8" string scale. It has a nice chunky C-shaped neck with measurements of .87" at the first fret increasing to 1.01" at the twelfth fret. It has a gorgeous Brazilian Rosewood fretboard (that is no longer available from Collings) with a 12" radius, a 1-11/16" nut width and Mother of Pearl fretboard inlays. The electronics include Lollar Low Wind Imperials, 500K DiMarzio pots and Xicon caps. This guitar was custom ordered with all gold hardware and as a "Deluxe" has Collings' top-of-the-line cosmetics, including body, neck and headstock binding with ivoroid control knobs.

Like it's sister, the I-35, this guitar has a voice that can be clear, warm or biting, depending on the level of attack and gain. It is an incredibly flexible instrument that can do jazz, country, rock or whatever you need it do do. As a Collings, it is built as though carved from a single piece of lumber. The playability, tone and build quality are beyond reproach. Please check out the brief sound sample provided.

Despite being built in 2009, this one-owner collector piece is about as close to mint as a "used" guitar can be. It is in virtually flawless condition, frets included, but I will just go with "near mint" in case I missed some microscopic evidence of prior play. Even the optional gold hardware, typically prone to tarnishing, remains shiny and bright. It comes in it's similarly mint Collings case and a recent email from Mark Althans of Collings confirming the specs for this particular guitar.

A new example of this guitar will cost you well over $6K and even at that price you can no longer get the Brazilian Rosewood fretboard. This near mint 2009 example with Brazilian can be yours for far less. This is a rare and very special piece in exemplary condition. Make it yours!
