Description

This Hill Country OM1A is well-balanced, direct, punchy, focused sounding OM that can handle just about any style you throw at it. Like the vintage guitars that inspired it, this OM is just as at home flatpicking a fiddle tune, plucking through some country blues, or backing up a vocal - it's present, warm and so responsive that it's a joy to back off with the right hand and just play freely.

The Hill Country line of guitars features a vintage-voiced build, delivering the same quality and attention to detail that has always been synonymous with Collings, but in warmer, dry, low-end and mid-focused guitar. Here with an Adirondack spruce top, paired with Honduran mahogany, the OM build features hand-poured tortoise appointments, new bracing and voicing, and a stamped Collings logo on the back of the headstock.

Extremely well balanced, every note across the fingerboard is present, while providing a big sounding fundamental that decays beautifully, without upper frequency harmonics, more of the dry, vintage tone that we love about the mid to late 1930s guitars. The full, vintage-inspired neck is comfortable to play, with the added resonance and response that comes from the Hill Country neck construction, something that can be felt in the left hand and definitely heard in the room.

The control, and power that comes from this line of Collings guitars rivals any sort of vintage-inspired build out there, and we're so very excited to get to spend time getting to know these guitars before we usher them along to their new home. Includes a free Mass Street setup from our crew of luthiers along with the original hardshell case.
