We've got a local player down here in the Panhandle and he's quite the hotshot on the six-stringer. He comes from "my time," which is back in the '80s and so not only have we both been around for what seems like forever, but so have his chops. The guy's a real gunslinger, so when he finds a guitar he likes, I take that as high praise watching him tear the frets off.

My man calls me up and said, "Dude, I need something that's low, fast, and loud. It don't gotta be pretty, but it has to play and sound like the shit. You know what I like, Raymundo." Well, I just did happen to have what I was sure he would like, so I told him to come over and check out this 375. He did a few days later and I thought I had what was going to be the perfect marriage.

First off, this guitar has got a million gazillion surface scratches on the front and back, so you know it's seen a lifetime of songs, stage, and studio. Smudges, dings, and the obligatory finish check at the neck pocket? They're all there, so you won't be getting a beauty queen, but you will be getting a Ferarri when it comes to the playing and tone departments. My guy wore this thing out with lots of Ratt, Twisted Sister, Dokken and of course, I had to have some classic Van Halen. My day was made after the visit and as I stated previously, I thought it was all gonna go down. Then came the red hot railroad spike to the base of my skull; "Let me go talk to the wife real quick and I'll call you back. Shouldn't be a problem."

Folks, as with many, many things in life, it was a problem- a big one, but because he's one of my boys, I let him off the hook. There's no reason to kick a brother when he's down, so I went ahead and detailed this guitar the best I could and went through my process. What we've ended up with is a great playing and sounding '89 Charvel that will take you back to "the days" and do it for the cheap. At least you know you can lean it up against your amp and if it falls over, just check the tuning and get back to playing.

It's got new strings and you'll quickly discover that the real gem in this guitar is the J-90C humbucker. Snarly little bugger, that one... Please take a look at the photos, let us know if you have any questions and as always, thanks for stopping by!
