MORTIMER, Alexander. Satisfaction. An Original Portrait of Keith Richards. 2005. Acrylic paint and ink on canvas, 30 x 20 inches (762 x 508 mm).
Here, Richards - #10 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time - is caught in mid-riff on his Telecaster. His band, a group out of England that shows a lot of potential, was inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.
Keith is seen in this action-portrait playing "Micawber," his 1952 Fender Telecaster black guard with the sixth string removed, open G tuning, and a Gibson PAF humbucker in the neck position. He can be heard playing it on Brown Sugar and Honky Tonk Woman, amongst other classic Stones tunes.
Los Angeles-based artist Alexander Mortimer took his degree in Fine/Graphic Arts at College of Marin in Northern California. Over the last twenty years his distinct style, flair, feel for his subjects and the rock n' roll vibe have attracted the eyes of people all across the state and earned him a dedicated fanbase. (#371)
