Description

This is the pinnacle of the Boutique Bass Builder, Alembic, all started back in 1969. This particular Persuader Bass has the standard Pointed Body shape made w/a stunningly flamey Bocate lamination having a fabulous amount figuring. Its 7-piece maple & walnut neck is straight as an arrow. Its factory electronics have that funk that only Alembics seem to have that shake the walls & windows in the shop every time we plug her in. It’s a very cool 35 year old bass that so many pro players chose w/the likes of Phil Lesh to Stanley Clarke & from John Entwistle to John McVie. The heart of the Pursuader bass is the Jazz Bass type pickups and electronics. The combination of a single coil pickups are a perfect match on this bass that has control and responsibility for your own tone. This gives a natural sound that is truly a reflection of the emotion the player puts in to the music. You hear the player, not the bass. Alembic wouldn’t be Alembic without the beautiful woods. While they are pleasing to the eye, keep in mind that different combinations will shape the way the string behaves, thus influencing the tone. The original owner has gotten so many famous Bass Players autographs the back of the body w/the likes of Stanley Clarke (includes a photo of him signing it). Additionally signed by (yet very faded from play time) are Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Bela Fleck, Victor Wooten, Futureman (Victors brother), Marcus Miller, Vinnie Caliuta, Lenny White & Michael Hampton. It’s excellent overall, comes in its original hard case.
